Parents will do anything for their kids especially when they have been diagnosed with a rare condition leaves the patient with weakened muscles all throughout their body. That’s what a man from Florida son was diagnosed with. Richard Wygand has taken on the challenge of paddle boarding from Lake Worth which is located in palm beach Florida all the way to Key west Florida which is an island city of Florida. The reason that Richard chose to paddle board is because he says that “Strength comes from the core!” Both him and his son share the zodiac sign of a cancer which is the sign that is energized by the waters.
He plans on accomplishing his journey on January 27, 2018 if the weather is good enough. He also is shooting for completing it in under 50 hours with making only one stop which is at the halfway mark to rest his body for a few hours if he will need to. Richard is also documenting his whole entire process by posting weekly Youtube videos showing how he is training for this incredible journey. You can visit his Youtube channel by click here for his documented progress.
This is going to not only raise money for the research on Nemaline Myopathy it is also going to raise awareness to the rare genetic condition that not many people are aware of as it only effects 1 in 50,000. If you’d like to learn more about how you can help Richard as he takes on the challenge of paddling boarding 200 miles from Lake Worth to Key West visit their website Here to learn more about how you can donate.
