Some people like to bring their dogs along to go paddle boarding with them. Then why not bring your dog with you to break a paddle boarding world record. That’s what Ivan Moreira did with his Chocolate Lab named Bono named after the Brazilian Chocolate cookie not the singer. This all started when Ivan was younger living, growing up in Brazil he lived near the beaches of Rio de Janeiro. He spent a lot of time in the water. There was not one board that he couldn’t surf with. “I grew up knowing how to surf with any kind of board – small boards, long boards, paddle boards, but my favorite were the kinds that allowed me to surf big waves.”
Once Ivan’s wife gifted him Bono for his Birthday, he’s coming to the beach with Ivan ever since. It wasn’t until later in his life did Ivan actually try stand up paddle boarding with an actual paddle. His stand up paddle board was big enough for him and Bono both ride together. Which Bono quickly to a liking to. So, Ivan had strapped on a life vest on Bono and also attached a GoPro to the front of his board so he could capture this incredible moment of man and dog riding a paddle board together.
As time went on Bono and Ivan were becoming more comfortable with riding on the paddle board together. Ivan set out break the record of longest stand up paddle board ride on a river bore by a human/dog pair. After many attempts they both broke the record by staying on the paddle board for exactly 1.05 miles without getting off the board. Bono and Ivan are now in the Guinness book of world records.
