It very much depends on how skilled you are at regular surfing if you are someone who already knows how to surf then paddle board surfing may not be as hard as you’d expect. However, if you are very new to paddle boarding and surfing it may be difficult at first but if you practice enough you’ll be riding those waves like a pro. If you have never surfed and you are just beginning paddle boarding you may want to start off slow and work your way up. You wouldn’t want to get injured at your first attempt so to avoid this you want to ease into paddle boarding. The first thing you are going to want to do is learn the basics. First you want to learn how to get up and off the board.
You may want to try this on dry land first just to get yourself accustomed to the board. Once you have got that down pat it’s time to test it out on the water. Now that you have familiarized yourself with getting on and off on the water you can now start to paddle board. Explore the body of water that you are on and learn to keep your balance. There is no set speed you must go at just try to keep your balance while on the board. If you happen to fall off don’t get discouraged this is completely okay.
Just get right back up and keep going! Now that you feel comfortable paddling around you can start off with some tiny waves. You want to use the same technique as surfing but instead of lying down on the board at first you are going to stand and paddle. As soon as you have enough confidence with the small waves you can work your way up to some bigger more exciting ones. Always wear a life jacket and be cautious whenever you are on your paddle board. Go and your own pace and have fun!
