Many different news outlets covered Chris’s inspiring journey across the transatlantic sea. Chris however did not do this to get publicity for himself he did it for charity. Yes, a man risked his life to travel 4050 miles across the ocean all to get the word out for the charities that he and his sponsors believe in. These charities include the Operation Smile charity where it provides free surgeries for people who were born with a cleft lip or a cleft pallet. Using the hashtag stand up you can raise awareness to people in the SUP community to donate to his cause and to celebrate the sport of stand up paddling.
Because of Chris’s heroic conquest there has been worldwide exposure for the stand-up paddle board community. Bringing awareness to the community and to a cause that can help thousands is what set out to accomplish and he reached his goal as the charities and the community have benefited from his exposure in the mainstream media.
